About
Dr.
Kokkonen
As a member of the Valley View Dermatology staff since 2016, Dr. Erik Kokkonen received his doctorate degree from the University of Hawaii. He completed his dermatological residency at Southern Illinois University, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Kokkonen has received his Board Certification in Dermatology from the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Kokkonen was first drawn to dermatology due to the field’s immense variety. There are over 3,000 known skin conditions, some of which are characterized by a complex constellation of symptoms, others of which are treated with simple medications and lifestyle interventions, while still others are treated with a host of procedures that range from simple to complex. As a physician, Dr. Kokkonen’s primary goal–and indeed his treatment philosophy–is to treat his patients as if they were family.
When away from our Valley View Dermatology clinic, Dr. Kokkonen enjoys rollerblading, hiking, photography, finding odd roadside attractions, and continuing his quest of finding the best donuts (especially apple fritters) around town.
